Your Cary Tesla install moves through five steps, with the inspections on their own days.
1. Free Estimate and Load Calculation
We open your panel, note its rating and free slots, and measure the distance to where you park. A look at your bill tells us whether Duke Energy or Apex Electric serves you, which decides the credit. You then get a free written estimate that prices the breaker, wire, mount and permit separately, with any panel work explained in plain terms.
2. Online Permit Application
We submit your permit through the Town of Cary’s online system and pay the per-trade fee, which passes through to you at cost. Complete applications are usually processed in about two business days, so the permit rarely holds up your install date. Duke customers need a copy of the approved permit for the credit, and we keep one in your file.
3. Groundwork or Rough-In Inspection
The town’s guide lists a groundwork inspection and a final inspection for electrical work, plus a rough-in visit whenever wiring would be hidden by the time of the final. On a trenched run to a detached garage, the groundwork visit happens before the trench is closed. We book each visit and meet the inspector, so you are not stuck waiting at home.
4. Installation Day
Most Cary Tesla installs take 4 hours to a full day. A Wall Connector beside the panel is quick, while an attic run, an outdoor mount or panel work fills the day. Your power goes off only while we work inside the panel, and you hear from us first. We also update your panel directory so the new circuit is easy to find.
5. Final Inspection and App Setup
A Town of Cary inspector signs off on the finished install during a later visit. We pair your Wall Connector with Wi-Fi and the Tesla app, confirm the full 48-amp rate and leave you an itemized invoice. Duke customers apply within 120 days of the invoice or EV registration, whichever is later, and Apex Electric customers keep the invoice for their records.
